Forever... (Chapter - 2)

It was supposed to be forever... 

I recall my most favorite memory of my life that has now turned to the most hurting one... 

(Meera: Promise me, this is forever... 

Shobit: I promise...) 

It's been 6 months since I came back from my business trip, and Meera broke up with me, because she fell in love with my best friend, Nikhil, and I still get a bad taste in my mouth when I think of them together. I know how people fall in love and fall out of love also, but I never knew that love you feel for someone can shift to another person. It hurts that I lost the girl I loved, but it hurts more to realize I have lost my best friend along also. 

I get a call on my phone from Meera. I wasn't going to pick up but at the last ring changed my mind. 

Shobit: "What's up?" 

Meera: "I was just talking to Nikhil, he hasn't been feeling well for a few days, and few minutes ago I was talking to him, and suddenly he stopped talking and I heard the mobile fall on the floor. I called out his names many times, but he didn't respond, and I don't know if he's alright. I am going to him, but I have lost my keys to his apartment. I don't know anyone else to call for help, could you please come to his place?"

I remained silent, not knowing what to say. 

Meera: "I know you are no longer friends with Nikhil, but if you still have any friendship left for him, please help. I don't know what I am going to do once I reach there."

Shobit: "Don't cry. I am on my way. And I am calling my brother's hospital to inform them about the situation. Just hold up a bit more." 

I reach Nikhil's apartment and open the door somehow. I see  him lying unconscious on the floor. The ambulance has also arrived. I stop Meera from going near Nikhil. The medical team takes Nikhil to the hospital with precaution. I see Meera shaken up by the whole incident. I talk to her. 

Shobit: "I am going with them, I'll meet you at hospital."

Meera: "Ok, I'll be there." 

In the hospital, I come out from Nikhil's ward, and I see Meera coming towards me. 

Meera: "What happened to him, is he ok?" 

Shobit: "He's corona infected, his immunity has gotten weak, that's why he fainted." 

Meera tries to go to Nikhil's room. 

Shobit: "Where are you going?" 

Meera: "I am going to see him." 

Shobit: "You can't go. He's Covid +ve. No one is allowed to visit him." 

Meera: "But you just came from his room." 

Shobit: "Yes, because I have special privileges, you don't." 

Meera: "Are you trying to punish me, Shobit? I don't know how many times I can apologize." 

Shobit: "I never asked you to. You can do whatever you want, Meera. I really don't care." 

Meera: "You're hurt. You're hurt, and you're acting out, Shobit. This isn't you." 

Shobit: "Sure it is. You've just never seen me like this." 

Shobit: "You don't know what I look like when I'm not in love with you." 

Shobit: "I'll let Nikhil know you stopped by, when he wakes up."
