Forever... (Chapter - 1)

It is going to be forever... 

Shobit and Meera have been dating each other for almost an year and were happy. They were working in different companies but were both based in Gurgaon itself. 

Meera calls Shobit to come to her place for dinner and tells him she also has some news to share. 

Shobit comes to Meera's place in the evening, and they eat dinner together. After they finished, 

Shobit: "So, what news were you going to share?"

Meera: "My company is relocating me to Mumbai next month." 

Shobit doesn't react and after a few moments says, 

Shobit: "So I guess this is Goodbye dinner. I'll just leave now." 

Meera: "What do you mean by Goodbye dinner?"

Shobit: "Obviously, we are breaking up. I mean, what other choice do we have? Long-distance relationship rarely works, and we have been dating for what... Just 11 months, we were never serious about each other anyways."

Meera: "What do you mean we aren't serious, do you really believe we don't love each enough? How could you say that?

Shobit: "Face reality, Meera. We won't work." 

Ishita: "So, things aren't easy and you're just gonna push me away now? That's what you do, Shobit. You think that you don't-- you don't deserve something, so you ruin it. I'm not gonna let you pull that this time. Take a new job with me in Mumbai itself. We could live together. That's how much I know this is real. That's how certain I am that I'm going to love you even if we are miles apart."

Shobit resigned at his company and applied for a job in Mumbai and got the job. They both moved to Mumbai and started living together and months passed by in a bliss. 

Shobit unlocks the door to his and Meera's apartment and enter. Meera was in the kitchen making dinner. He puts his bag on the table and go to her and hug her tightly. 

Shobit: "I have some news, I don't know if I should consider them good or bad." 

Meera: "What happened?" 

Shobit: "My manager called me to his office and gave me a promotion."

Meera's face lit up. 

Meera: "Why are you then upset? What else he said?" 

Shobit: "For the first six months I have to move abroad for the project. And I honestly don't know what I should do. I mean on the one hand, my professional life would be set permanently with the work exposure outside country and greater pay, but on the other hand I have to stay away from you for the next six months." 

Meera: "You know, even if it was for 2 years, I would still have told you to go. This job seems like a good opportunity and I don't want to be the person who will come between a person and his career. And no matter what you chose I will always love you. Six months is not that big period of time anyways, it will pass away smoothly. And moreover with so advanced technology, we may not be physically close, but digitally we'll always be."

Shobit decided to take the promotion on Meera's encouragement. 

A few days later on a summer night, before Shobit has to leave for his business trip, Meera asked him to go for a drive. She wanted to show him this meteor shower, so they drove out in the middle of nowhere, and the moment those shooting stars started to fall, rain... lots of rain... Shobit looks at the sky praying that it would stop after a while, but it started raining harder... 

Shobit: "Come on. It's time to abandon ship. It's raining too much, we'll get sick."

Meera: "No, no, no, wait. Just give it a second. It will clear up."

Meera was so sure it would clear, that it was just easier for Shobit to believe her. She took his hands in her hands, came forward and kissed him on the lips. After a few moments, they broke the kiss and look at each other's eyes full of love, and then she said,

Meera: "Promise me this is forever." 

Shobit: "I promise..."
